| Sunday Worship |
The Bible challenges God's people to gather weekly as a larger community. This is instruction that goes back to the 10 Commandments. In the Old Testament this gathering centered around the Sabbath and the Synagogue. In the New Testament the church gathered on the first day of the week. The purpose of this gathering is to worship our God, to hear His Word preached and to strengthen out bonds to our community. When we do this God promises to strengthen and bless us as we do His work throughout the week. |
| Care Groups |
Care Groups are vital to Neighbourhood Church's concept of being the people of God. First, the Bible is meant to be studied in small groups where we have a chance to ask questions and share insights. Second, the small group is where we pray for each other and offer thanks for prayers answered. And thirdly, the small group gives an opportunity for personal contact and caring that is simply not possible in larger settings.
Although Care Groups are not the only way to express community, they certainly are a tried and tested way for individuals to come together for friendship, mutual encouragement, study, prayer, transformational discipleship, care and outreach. In the context of a care group individuals can find deep and meaningful relationships, care in times of crisis, a deeper and more durable faith and a context for team outreach and mission. For more information please contact Pastor Ryan.

| Missions |
It is never enough for God's people to build strong communities. We are commanded to reach out to those around us. As our Missions Statement says, we are commanded to "do His Work in our City, Country and World." This reaching out has many dimensions from Community Outreach Projects, to our colleges (CBC) and seminary (MBBS), to missions (MBMSI) and service (MCC). Check our LINKS for more information on these. Missions is vital to a healthy community. |

Women’s Ministry is a vital and valuable connecting point on Neighbourhood Church. When James and Janet came to Neighbourhood Church in 1987, it was the women of the church who made up a large part of its working core. Since the beginning Janet has brought leadership to the Women’s Ministry, sometimes from direct leadership and sometimes as a member of the team. At present Kara Henderson is co-ordinating the women's ministry.
- Wednesday 9:00 am and 7:30 pm at the church.

| Foyer Ministry |
The foyer is the physical entrance to our church building and we want this to be an inviting, open place that also represents our desire to welcome everyone into our church family. On Sunday morning we provide coffee, tea and juice as a way to make this a comfortable and enjoyable place. Our team of ushers and greeters are the front line of this welcome but everyone who calls Neighbourhood Church “home” is responsible to be friendly and helpful.

Prayer Ministry
|
Prayer is a gift that God has given His people. As we pray for each other we demonstrate our care for those in need. It is a powerful comfort in times of pain or crisis. But prayer also is a way of touching God’s heart and changing the natural course. This is a mystery, but a Biblical fact. To represent the importance of prayer in the life of God’s people, we pray for 3 families each week as they appear on our phone list. Another good reason to get connected!

| Community Outreach |
This arm of the church grew out of a long, Neighbourhood Church tradition of prison ministry at Nanaimo Correctional Centre. Various projects such as the Samaritan’s Purse Shoe Boxes, Christmas hampers of several varieties, and help to specific families in crisis have been part of this ministry. When an opportunity to respond to a need is identified, we want to be ready to mobilize an effective and resourceful response. We have been privileged to serve in this way many times.

| Special Events |
We love to have fun. Since the earliest times the church has had a grand Christmas Banquet. We have also had Family Bowling Nights, Swimming Nights, Skating Parties and all kinds of Talent Nights. This past June we had our second annual Church Camp at Nanoose Bay. The purpose of these Special Events is, first just to have fun. After all, the Bible mandates all kinds of feasts and holidays. But secondly these events give us an opportunity to invite friends and neighbours to something they are sure to enjoy.
