“To build committed followers of Jesus- to do His will in our city, country and world.” 

Jesus calls us to be God’s family in the towns and cities we live in. This instruction defines who we are. Those who join us come from every background and age. We are united by our recognition of Jesus as God’s Son and our determination to follow His teachings. Following Jesus and living as “family” is not always easy but being part of a community is worth it. 

As a Church we have 3 main areas we focus on. First, we believe that God wants His people to meet weekly as a whole for encouragement and worship. Second, we believe that the fellowship of Care Groups allows for interactive Bible study and friendship. And finally, we believe God’s people have a responsibility to the next generation and so we have committed ourselves to Youth and Children’s ministry. 

Neighbourhood Church has been part of Nanaimo’s christian community since 1981. This means that we have seen our town go through many changes and much growth. Like most new churches we began by meeting in rented facilities but in 1990 we were able to build our own church building. At that time, our location on the corner of Rutherford and Uplands felt like the edge of town. Since then, however, Nanaimo has grown around us. 

At the present time we are planning a significant expansion of our facilities. The design has gone through the City of Nanaimo’s Development Permit process and we are waiting to get our Building Permit so that we can begin. We would love to show you the plans.
