James, Janet and their 3 children moved to Nanaimo in 1987. This was their first church after graduating from seminary in Fresno, CA. They consider themselves blessed beyond measure to have a church family that walks with them through the joys and trials of life. They are looking forward to the next 20 years of being part of Neighbourhood Church and watching God do His work in this city.
Ryan Dueck - Associate Pastor
Ryan, Naomi, Nicholas, and Claire are newcomers to Nanaimo. Ryan has just stepped into the role of Associate Pastor of Congregational Care at Neighbourhood Church, a position that will involve pastoral care, small groups, some service coordination, and occasional preaching and teaching. Ryan and his family are proud prairie folks (originally from Coaldale, AB), although they have spent the last three years in Vancouver where Ryan recently completed an MCS at Regent College. Prior to this, Ryan obtained a BA in philosophy from the University of Lethbridge. Ryan and his family feel enormously privileged to have the opportunity to play a role in assisting this community of faith to represent the joy and the hope of Christ to the city of Nanaimo.

Carol Lade - Office Administrator
Carol, Wes and their children moved to Nanaimo in 1995. Over the years they have been Care Group leaders, led and participated in Worship teams and generally been active in the heart of the church. In 2000 Carol became Church Secretary. As the Church has grown, Carol’s assignment has grown and now she is now at the centre of almost everything that happens, as Church Administrator.
Karen Travers - Communications Coordinator
Karen and Dave moved to Nanaimo as newly-weds in 1990. Now they have 2 sons and are learning the joys of parenting teenagers. Karen and Dave have been involved in a number of ministries including Youth and Worship. Karen came on Staff in 2005 in our Communications position. She is the one who keeps our Power Point and video presentations fresh and creative. She is also our Webmaster.
Sharon Bard - Youth Leader
Sharon thinks God is the best person she's ever met and she's known him for about 16 years now. She works with the youth at Neighbourhood Church because she loves them. They're a wonderful group of kids that inspire and challenge her. She is a recent graduate of the Quest program at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford and is currently attending VIU. Her second job is at Starbucks, because coffee is great! She also likes bike riding, gummy bears, and those scratch and sniff stickers.
